Save Sweetie Pie and other seniors at Silverwalk

Thank you for supporting Sweetie Pie, Oxford, and the other seniors at Silverwalk w/extraordinary vet/treatment bills by clicking on the above link to donate to their Fundable.com fund. The fund did reach its goal but is still accepting donations! I accepted both Oxford and Sweetie Pie w/o knowing their complex medical issues. WOWZA! Thank you so much for your support and prayers.

October is Adopt a Shelter/Rescue Dog Month!

Color your autumn by adopting a homeless dog!

Leadership

If a dog lives with...

If a dog lives with hostility

he learns to fight.
If a dog lives with brutality

he learns to be shy.
If a dog lives with anger

he learns aggression.
If a dog lives with good leadership

he learns security.
If a dog lives with encouragement

he learns to try.
If a dog lives with boundaries

he learns respect.
If a dog lives with praise

he learns confidence.
If a dog lives with fairness

he learns to trust.
If a dog lives with love

he finds brotherhood.

WHO WE ARE

Go back to the top
Silverwalk is a very small, licensed, private, non profit, home based dog sanctuary
specializing in senior and special needs Beagles and other hounds.
Normally, I am able to accept a limited number of unfunded and limited funded dogs, however:

As of July 15, 2008,

I can accept no more dogs due to being over full w/wonderful, adoptable dogs.
Thank you for your trust w/these dogs - please adopt so I may help more :).

Owner surrenders are asked to financially support
their former dogs until adoption occurs.

I look forward to helping you adopt
one of my wonderful dogs or directing you to my links or contacts
who may also have great dogs for adoption and/or information.
The links are further down the page.

Please see Raggedy Ann, Elvis, and others
who are waiting at the Rainbow Bridge under Happy Tails/RIP.
Because I also have senior dogs,
we must acknowledge that death is a part of life.
I know these dogs had a loving home for the last months/years of their lives.

"Old dogs, like old shoes, are comfortable -
they may be a bit out of shape and worn around the edges,
but they fit so well."

We appreciate any help or donations.
All donations go directly to support the dogs and their care.
Thank you for caring about rescued dogs.

All Silverwalk dogs live in the house with 24/7 access via a dog door to the yards/field.
All dogs are up to date on shots and needed medical treatment as well as receiving basic obedience training.

Silverwalk is lucky to have dog trainer Marilyn Olson Neville, e-mail:ace@clas.net
and animal behaviorist Tara Lang available for assistance when needed.

The wonderful vets at LaCroix Pet Hospital and Dogwood Veterinary Clinic
here in Cape Girardeau, & Scott City Animal Clinic in Scott City, MO
make sure these dogs are healthy, wealthy in spirit, and perhaps wise :).

Please take a moment to see Dog Blessed @ Silverwalk. The 9/21 entry tells why we fosters & rescuers spend so much time and money on "un-salvageable" dogs, plus you will catch up on some exciting activity happening that week.

ADOPTING A FRIEND

Go back to the top
All dogs adopted from Silverwalk will be neutered or spayed prior to adoption -
there is no exception. Please check out this video for a humorous yet very serious plea to spay and neuter your pet:
HELP! Cat Music Video

Please start by e-mailing for an application for adoption. Vet, personal references and a home visit are necessary prior to adoption.
The best home for the dog is the priority here.
The goal is for both the dog and the adopter to be very happy for a very long time.

Please check out this campaign link before you decide to get a dog: www.dontgetadog.com

There will be a binding adoption contract to be signed and an adoption fee of $100-$300 cash paid at the time you receive your dog.
This fee in no way covers the cost of caring for a dog till adoption
but is meant to indicate how seriously Silverwalk values life.
It also helps support those dogs who are not sponsored.
Limited transport help is available.

References are available from adopters - please ask.

Buddy's human mom, Barb (the lost dog whose family found him via Silverwalk on Petfinder), asked if we could use donations - YES!
Silverwalk certainly can use cash, blankets, dog food, dog beds, laundry detergent, crates,
anything that may make a dog's life more comfortable as he awaits his forever home.
